Listen… island girls are built for sunshine, sea breezes, and sandals — NOT snowstorms. Definitely not Nor’easters. I didn’t grow up shoveling snow, scraping windshields, or waking up to a weather alert that feels like a personal attack. Even after years in New England, I still treat winter like a suggestion I never take seriously… until it shows up at my doorstep with attitude. Girl… CHILL OUT.
But if there’s one thing I have mastered? Snow boots.
Because when the weather starts disrespecting you, at least your style — and your feet — don’t have to suffer.
Early in my move here, someone told me, “Just get Sorel boots — they’re the best.” And honestly? Not one lie was told. My pairs have survived multiple winters, multiple storms, and multiple moments where I questioned every life choice that led me to a place where ice falls from the sky. I have different shaft heights, different materials, and somehow they all still look chic enough to pair with leggings, puffer coats, and my signature faux-fur moments.
Why Sorel?
- They’re warm enough for real winter (not the “winter” I grew up with).
- They grip ice like it owes them money.
- They actually last. Splurge now to save big time later.
- And they don’t make me feel like Bigfoot in public — major win.
My Picks for This Year’s Snow Boot Edit
A mix of classics, everyday pairs, and “oops I still want to look cute in a blizzard” options.
My Nor’Easter Die Hards are the JOAN OF ARCTIC™ Women’s Waterproof Boot. These boots are iconic. Mine — as seen in the featured pic — are almost a decade old and are still like new.
My first pair ever almost 20 years ago were the TIVOLI™ Women’s Waterproof Boot. They’ve had massive upgrades since then and are on their fifth edition. Great place to start if the Joan commitment is a bit much for you.
The pair I’d jump on next for my own personal collection are from the OUT N ABOUT™ collection. This taffy OUT N ABOUT™ IV Chillz Women’s Waterproof Boot has been sitting in all my online wishlists for a few months now. I’m holding for now, but only because I don’t need them. It’s purely a want. If you get them, tell me!!
And because it’s Cyber Monday, this is truly the moment:
Check Zappos, DSW, and Amazon — all three tend to have great deals right now. Whether you’re upgrading an old pair or finally accepting winter as your new reality (reluctantly, like me), you can snag something sturdy and stylish without shaking your fist at the price tag.
I may never be emotionally prepared for snow — no matter how long I live here — but my boots?
They stay ready. 🤍 ❄️
